1855, G Sworn, Greyhound, Fordingbridge
I have a family interest in the Greyhound Hotel, Salisbury Street, Fordingbridge. My great aunt (x2) Emily Chilcott (nee: Stroud, in Ringwood) was the wife of Robert Chilcott (born in Dorset) Innkeeper of the Greyhound Hotel Fordingbridge, between 1861 & 1871.**
Robert was listed as the Head of the family, and was also recorded in the 1871 Census as a farmer, as well as the Innkeeper of the Greyhound.
Robert and Emily married in 1849 in Ringwood. In 1851 he was recorded as landlord of the Red Lion, Market Place Ringwood with Emily his wife.

Robert Chilcott’s association with the Greyhound eventually came to an end eventually and he then lived in Wiltshire at Steeple Langford where he was later recorded as a Miller running the water Mill with his son. Emily his wife died in 1905. **
