There was a Saracen’s Head in Ware as early as 1656. The original pub was demolished in October 1957 and rebuilt in the 1960s. ** The National Archives suggests as early as 1433 *

Richard Skeggs “plumber and victualler” of the Saracens Head in the 1861
census, was not the first Skeggs associated with the pub. The following is
from the U.K. National Archives. *
Reference dated 1433-34. The “tenement called the Sarsynyshed” would today
be rendered the “Saracens Head”.
