Inquest into the death of Mr Edmund Henry Howard Eldridge, licensee of the High Brooms Hotel. Main witnesses were his widow, and also her brother Harold George Knight of the Greyhound Hotel, Tunbridge Wells.
He had made acquaintance after the war, and did not know which regiment he had served in. He had then married his sister.
Mr Eldridge had been employed as manager of a drapers establishment in Eastbourne until within five years ago, when he relinquished the position owing to ill health. He became licensee of the High Brooms Hotel in 1923.

Sudden Death of popular licensee.
His many friends were shocked to learn of the sudden death on Saturday of Mr Alfred Edwin Talfourd, landlord of the Greyhound Hotel, Tunbridge Wells. He was only 44 years of age, and was taken ill two days previously.
After serving for 21 years in the Royal Artillery, from which he retired with the rank of Sergeant-Major, Mr Talfourd came to the Greyhound in September 1932, In the short time since then he became widely popular, and was this years chairman of the local branch of the Licensed Victuallers Association.
During his army days Mr Talfourd was an exceptionally fine sportsman. He played cricket and football in many representative games, and for years held the long distance running championship of the Army in the Mediterranean.
Deep sympathy is felt with Mrs Talfourd and their twelve year old daughter.
