My great-great-grandfather was Joseph Kinch who was the landlord of the Navigation Inn, 2 Elm Street, Manchester in the 1870s. I might even have a picture of him somewhere.
He had 2 sons, Alfred and Frederick. Frederick William Kinch was my G-Grandfather, and in 1881 he is a barman at the Collyhurst; he moved to Cheshire to take on the Farmers Arms in the village of Huxley which was actually under his wife Sarah's name. That pub was recently demolished (sadly) but has been rebuilt to a very high standard.
Alfred and his wife Emma went on to run a confectionary shop in Harpurhey, Manchester *
