Islington index
Listed at 1 Trinity Place, the North side of Islington High Street, in 1856.
A Grade II listed pub, the Hope & Anchor opened its doors to the locals of Islington in 1850. It has also witnessed legendary bands like U2, The Police, and The Stranglers take to the stage, and there are still live music nights regularly, with a theatre upstairs.
It was a Greene King public house in 2017 and March 2026. Greene King has announced plans to sell off, or convert 150 pubs into tenanted or franchised locations, as the UK hospitality sector struggles with rising costs.
