Existed from at least 1827. The address was at 166 Bethnal Green road prior to 1870. This pub was probably present by 1703 and certainly present by 1713. aka The George in 1891. Licensee William Austin Balls was the son of Henry James K Balls of the Kent Hotel, Gravesend, Kent. William Austin's brother Harry Balls became licensee of the Anchor, South Fambridge, Essex.  ** The name is given as the George IV in the 1839 Directory *.
