My grandparents were the licensees from 1936 to 1958 or 1959 at least on the electoral register. My grandfather Albert Edward Leppard who died in 1947 and my grand mother Elsie Hanna Leppard who carried on until 1958 or 1959 **
Prior to the Brewery Tap my grandparents had the Asylum Tavern in Caterham that was later named the Caterham Arms they were there from about 1922 to 1936 my mother Brenda was born there in December 1926. They used to go across to the Asylum on a Sunday afternoon and entertain the patients. My grandmother Elsie would play the piano, my uncle Desmond would play the violin, my auntie Margorie would play the accordion and my grandfather Albert would sing.
