He'd moved to Gravesend by 1835 occupying the Pope's Head Tavern (ref Morning Advertiser London 16/5/1835 - Marriage, On Thursday last, Mr Oswald Overton Widdrington of Pope's Head Tavern to Miss Kennett, 3rd dau of John Kennett of Rye).
His father Richard had the Waterloo Arms, George Street, Camberwell until his death in 1841 and his brother William the Victoria Tavern, Choumert Road, Peckham.
Richard was also elected chair of the Licensed Victuallers Assylum committee in 1837
