In 1806, My 3x Great Grandfather, Robert Cooper made his last Will and
Testament - In his will, he describes himself as 'Master of the Ship Tavern,
Woolwich'. *
He died in 1807 aged about 59 years of age, and (his wife being dead) it is
likely that the license of 'The Ship' passed to one of his adult children,
Elizabeth Ann Cooper , Charles Alder Cooper or Constantia Cooper. *
Later, Constantia Cooper married a William Shersby, who lived next door to
the Ship Tavern at 2 George Street. *
William Shersby and Constantia (nee Cooper) later became licensees of The
Coach and Horses, 56 Minories, Aldgate (shown in 1835 London Electoral
Registers) and William Shersby is also shown at various other pubs,
including The White Horse in Rood Lane (1843 ). *

Personal estate and effects of William Sloman late of George street Woolwich
in the County of Kent Licensed Victualler deceased who died 15 June 1864 at
the "Bridge House" Hotel High street Southwark in the County of Surrey were
granted at the Principal Registry to Ellen Sloman of George street aforesaid
Widow the Relict the Universal Legatee named in the said Will she having
been fisrt sworn. The Letters of Administration granted at the principal
Registry August 1864 having been revoked.
