Albert street is earlier named Cockpit, and renamed about 1851 or thereabouts. The next entry in many of the early census is in Nottingham road. This is a separate pub from the Old White Bear at 9 Albert street. The 1901 census lists it at 20 Albert street, and at the junction with 2 Nottingham road. It is strange that it is named the Victoria at the end of her reign, according to the 1900 directory. The 1911 census also lists this a s the Victoria Hotel.
