In the 1891 census my Great Grandfather, Henry Slater, is the publican at
the Edinburgh Castle. My Grandfather, Albert Victor, is also there, aged 6.
It is likely that his father runs the
	Bohola House, Bethnal
	green in the 1881 census.

By the 1911 census, Albert Victor Slater is a barman at 9 Ashleigh road,
Mortlake, Surrey. In 1907, as a barman, he marries Alice May Lewer in
Putney. They both list 21 Sefton street, Putney as their address. He signs
up for service in the Army Service Corps in the Essex regiment, in WW1 in
November 1914 and earns himself the 1914 star as his war medals. His service
shows he first served in the Balkans.
