Peacehaven was a town which did not exist before 1916. The land was initially named "New Anzac-on-Sea" to honor the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops of World War I, but it was later deemed too militaristic. A second competition led to the adoption of "Peacehaven" in 1917
