Situated on the corner of Carmelite street, and sometimes referred to under that street. It was previously the Whale Fishery. Now named after Mr Baines bay colt, Cotherstone which won the Derby in 1843. Alternatively called the Horse Cotherstone in 1848 and 1855, and the Bay Horse in 1851 and 1858. The landlord Reuben Dunn was refused renewal of his license in 1846. *HM
