Sheffield pub history

Directory of Pubs in the UK, historical public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in Sheffield, Yorkshire. The Sheffield, Yorkshire listing uses information from census, Trade Directories and History to add licensees, bar staff, Lodgers and Visitors.

Sheffield is in the West Riding of Yorkshire. A large town famous for its steel production. It is also famous for silver plated cutlery (EPNS - electro plated nickel silver) and I noted the links to Norfolk (and the many Norfolk Arms); this is where the Easterlings first made their home in East Anglia - the silver workers from Protestant Europe, and where the word 'sterling' emanates from. Sheffield has also been famous for its steel production for many centuries, although most steel has been imported since very early times.
